OFFICIAL ORGANIZATION FORMED TO FIGHT GOTION GIGAFACTORY

Green Charter Township, MI – The community opposition effort against the proposed Gotion gigafactory in Mecosta County took another step forward this week with the formation of an official organization known as the Mecosta Environmental and Security Alliance (MESA). This non-profit organization formalizes the effort to protect Mecosta County, our neighboring communities, and West-Central Michigan from both the environmental and national security threats posed by the proposed Gotion
gigafactory in Green Charter Township, MI.
The organization exists to raise awareness, educate the community, and fund legal efforts to stop the
construction of this facility, and will oppose any attempt to bring a business into our community that
threatens harm to our environment, or has significant ties to nations who threaten harm to America.
The Board of Directors for the newly formed organization includes local community leaders: Jason Kruse,
Bruce Baker, Teri Hook, Mary Engelsman, and former Congressman and Ambassador Peter Hoekstra,
who has been instrumental in the opposition effort against Gotion.
“Ambassador Hoekstra has been a tremendous ally to our work, and we are thrilled to have him on the
MESA board, working side-by-side with our community as we take the next step forward to stop Gotion
from taking over our home.” said MESA President Jason Kruse. Hoekstra, along with former ambassador
Joseph Cella, have been vocal opponents of Gotion through their organization “Michigan – China
Economic and Security Review Group”.
The newly formed non-profit organization is seeking donations to fund ongoing legal actions against
